If they are being consistant with their policy of spreading the "truth", all of their publications should be available on line, right? lol Then the whole world can see exactly what they really believe, and worldly people can see exactly how much JWs are taught to love us.

I agree, they have really clamped down on who gets their publications. If worldly people like myself read the magazines or books without the prior indoctrination of a bible study, we can tell how wacko they really are. The Watchtower's private face and public face are so different.
I correspond with a fair number of Non-JW people who are involved romantically with JWs. Most are completely baffled by aspects of their loved one's behavior or situation. So much can be explained by showing them what has been written by the Watchtower or Awakes. I don't have a CD or access to those publications unless I find them by accident. The biggest help has been sending people scanned pages from the "Young People Ask" or "Family Happiness" book. I was able to obtain those books from a kind friend with a JW relative. They have been invaluble.
It would be so much easier if those books were available in some format on the internet. Can anyone do that?

apparently he is safe.. i would have loved to live in new york a few years ago.
it looks like its the most dangerous place to live right now, not because of the current attempt to shoot the mayor but because it is the centre of worl attention and any nut case wanting world attention simply has to do some act of terrrorism there.. would you live there?.
I find this very unfortunate, but there are crazies everywhere.
My family and I spent last week in Manhattan on a family holiday. We did the usual tourist things, Broadway shows, Central park, NBC, Radio City Music Hall, museums and art galleries, shopping. We were cautious, after all, in every city you have to use common sense, but I didn't feel threatened. As a matter of fact, I have never seen so many police or so many security people.
We had a fantastic time, and I would love to visit New York again. I wouldn't like to live there. I'm not rich enough.
i was at the hospital the other day in the waiting room for about 2 hours with a friend, and i noticed only one awake magazine from 2000 in the pile of reading material.. i always thought that the watchtower was trying to "preach the good news to all the inhabited earth before the end comes".
well , they don't like the internet, which is the # 1 way to inform people, you cannot get a subscription anymore unless someone at the hall does it for you or you are still attending, probaly why i didn't see any at the hospital, or lawyers office, or doctor's office etc etc etc.. it seems to me that they are trying to limit what info gets out to the outside world, is this not contradicting all they have preached the last 50 years.. no subscriptions for anyone who might want one ?????????.
no new books, for anyone who is not a jw.. what do you think ????????.

Because I am not JW, I have no idea how many magazines used be distributed, but ever since my daughter had a JW boyfriend, I have actively kept an eye out for them. A couple were dropped off at the ballet school where my daughter dances. The teacher felt sorry for the young lady handing them out so she took some and then tossed them in the garbage later. I found a set of Awake and Watchtower in a medical building with all the free advertising magazines at the front door. I grabbed those like trophies...you see, I haven't seen many of these gems, and I was curious. I don't know why, seeing it in black and white just makes me hyperventilate. . But, in three years of looking......that's it.
I live in a nicer area, and the JWs NEVER come around knocking on the door. The Mormons missionaries are very active all over the West end, nice young men who offer to mow the lawn for me....uh..no, thanks.

Dansk, I have been a bit puzzled by the lack of indepth coverage of controversial JW issues here. Nothing on the abuse issue, and a bit of coverage of Bethany's case. Yet, other church groups have had their scandals thoroughly covered. I would say, however, that there is generally a very positive coverage of religious events here, in the paper, especially of enthusiastic, pentacostal type youth conventions. I wonder if the editor or publisher had ever been threatened with a lawsuit or something, resulting in them becoming wary of taking on the Watchtower.

Dansk, interesting you mentioned publicity. The convention was in the city where I live last weekend, and there was a glowing half page article about the convention in the front section of the paper. It emphasised the "warmth" that the teenager felt that got baptized, the large number of people attending,and their strong faith. My husband had heard very positive news items before the convention on how great a job they did cleaning the Skyreach centre. It certainly downplayed any controversial issues. In view of the negative publicity of the Bethany Hughes case in Alberta earlier in the year, I wondered if they were making a deliberate effort to get some good publicity.
As far as dumbing down, I have no idea, I'm not JW. The only JWs I know are smart as anything, yet remain firmly controlled by the WT, no matter how little sense that cult makes.
my wife will not entertain the thought that the org is not directed by god.
even when presented with constant organizational flip flops she believes its gods direction.
and why not thats what she has been taught since childhood.. is ther anything that seems to work better in reasoning with women inparticular.
Not a good turn of events at all. I'm so sorry to hear that she took off with your daughter. Do you know where they are? Get a good, tough lawyer and you may have to teach him how the Watchtower operates.

well it is a hot summer day and hubby brought home a new beer.
My husband loves it too. I prefer Grower's MacIntosh Apple Cider.
